7-Bromo-heptanenitrile is a useful synthetic intermediate. It can be used to synthesize diamine and triamine analogs and derivatives as inhibitors of deoxyhypusine synthase. It can also be used to prepare arenes via iron-diphosphine complex-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of alkyl halides with lithium arylborates.
