2-[(2-Nitrophenyl)thio]acetic Acid Hydrazide, has been discovered to block a step in biotin biosynthesis in bacteria, using nutrient-restricted bacteria, and thus could be valuable additions to antibiotics, and for drug discovery. It can also be used for the preparation of some pharmaceutical compounds, including triazine derivatives, acting as inhibitors. It is also used for the synthesis of o-nitrophenylsulfonyldiazomethane.
